The Baywatch reboot trailer puts Stephen Amell in charge of a new lifeguard team, with Fox confirming a January 2027 premiere. Released October 13, the preview brings the franchise back to the beach with a rescue sequence and a family story centered on Hobie Buchannon.
As reported by Variety and Deadline, Amell plays the grown-up son of original captain Mitch Buchannon. Hobie is now a Baywatch captain himself, but the arrival of a daughter he never knew changes his life.
What the Baywatch reboot trailer reveals
The three-minute trailer opens with a plane colliding with a parasail, sending the lifeguards into action. The beach rescues sit alongside the slow-motion running and relationship drama that made the original series recognizable.
Jessica Belkin plays Charlie Vale, Hobie’s daughter, who wants to become a lifeguard and carry on the family legacy. That gives the reboot a connection to the earlier show without simply putting the original captain back at the center.
New lifeguards and a familiar returning face
Joining Amell and Belkin are Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck and Brooks Nader. Livvy Dunne has a recurring role as Grace. David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison, the character he played in the original series.
Variety also notes an appearance by Megan Thee Stallion in the trailer. Matt Nix is the showrunner, and McG directed the premiere episode. Fox Entertainment and Fremantle are producing the series.
When does the reboot premiere?
Fox’s new Baywatch is scheduled for January 2027. The reports confirm the month, rather than a specific premiere date. The network ordered 12 episodes for the 2026-2027 broadcast season.
The trailer arrives during a busy stretch of television revivals. HBO has ordered a Girls revival, while Hulu is moving ahead with Ryan Coogler’s X-Files reboot.
