The Mummy 4: Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz Reunite in New Set Photos

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are sharing a set again for The Mummy 4. New photographs published Wednesday show the actors together in west London, bringing Rick and Evelyn O’Connell’s reunion into view after their earlier separate filming appearances.

The Daily Mail’s on-set report says the pair filmed Tuesday. ScreenRant also reported the new reunion photographs. Fraser wears a brown jacket and green checked shirt; Weisz appears in a checked skirt and blazer. These are production photographs, not a trailer or an official reveal of the story.

The Mummy 4 brings Rick and Evelyn back together

The new images carry a particular pull for fans of the original films. Fraser and Weisz last starred together as the O’Connells in The Mummy Returns in 2001. Fraser returned for 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, but Maria Bello played Evelyn in that installment.

As People reported earlier this month, Weisz had already been photographed back in character. Wednesday’s coverage is about the two leads being seen together, rather than a new announcement that they have signed on.

What the directors have said

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the directing duo known as Radio Silence, are making the new film. In a March Entertainment Weekly interview, Bettinelli-Olpin said the script had “all of the heart and the character that you could hope for.”

Asked whether the third film was canon to their project, he replied, “Well, Rachel is in this one.” Gillett added, “That should answer the question for you.” Those comments point to the importance of the original pairing, but the new set photographs do not establish the sequel’s plot.
