The Voice Season 30 Battles: Kelly Clarkson and Riley Green Fight Over Kayleigh Mathews, and Who Went Home

The Voice Season 30 Battles ended Monday night on a cliffhanger. Kelly Clarkson and Riley Green both hit their buttons to steal Kayleigh Mathews from Team Queen Latifah, and the singer will not name her new coach until tonight’s episode, according to TVLine and Parade. The show airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock.

The Kayleigh Mathews double steal

Mathews faced Lillie Kolich on Team Queen Latifah, and the two sang Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush.” TVLine graded the performance an A- and called the pair evenly matched. Latifah picked Kolich as the winner.

When host Carson Daly asked whether Mathews wanted to say anything to her coach, Clarkson interrupted and hit her button. Green joined in with his own. That left the choice to Mathews, and NBC saved the answer for Tuesday, per TVLine. TV Insider describes Mathews as a four-chair turn artist.

Clarkson’s week has been a busy one. TVLine notes she also got into a public back-and-forth with a Brooklyn gift shop that allegedly assumed she could not afford an expensive item.

Who went home on The Voice Season 30 Battles night

Each coach paired two teammates for a duet, with a celebrity advisor helping: Ariana DeBose for Clarkson, Patti LaBelle for Latifah, Alex Warren for Adam Levine and Carly Pearce for Green. Here is how the other five Battles ended, according to TVLine and Parade:

  • Team Queen Latifah: Alt Bloom beat Morgan Lett on Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor.” Latifah said it was “Alt by a nose.”
  • Team Adam Levine: Connor Closs beat Cal Cook on Sombr’s “Homewrecker.” Levine called it “dead even” before choosing Closs.
  • Team Riley Green: Joe Henley beat Kenna Elpers on Green’s own “Don’t Mind If I Do.” Green said, “Nothing that Kenna did wrong.”
  • Team Kelly Clarkson: Koumba Diallo beat Lance Tenazas on Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather.” TVLine notes Diallo is 15.
  • Team Riley Green: Everett Bounds beat Caroline Alexis on “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.” Green said he went with Bounds for his “fun, up-tempo, traditional country” style.

Winners move on to Cut Week.

What to watch tonight
