Sombr brought out a surprise guest at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on Saturday, Oct. 10: Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham. The two played the band’s 1977 hit “Go Your Own Way,” Billboard and Rolling Stone report.
The introduction
“I’d like to welcome to the stage someone I look up to so much. This man’s music is one of my biggest influences,” the 21-year-old singer told the crowd, according to Rolling Stone. “I grew up on this guy, I think we all grew up on this guy.” Buckingham, 77, then led Sombr and his band through the song, wearing jeans, a black T-shirt and a black leather jacket and playing a burgundy electric guitar, Billboard reports.
MusicRadar says Buckingham sang the first verse and Sombr took the second, and that Sombr appeared to stumble over some lyrics while Buckingham delivered a guitar solo. It adds that Buckingham presented Sombr with the Songwriter of the Year award at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event in August and said then that the two had talked about working together.
Another guest and what is next
Earlier in the night, Jesse Rutherford of The Neighbourhood joined Sombr for “Sweater Weather,” Billboard and Rolling Stone report. Sombr’s You Are the Reason tour plays San Diego’s Pechanga Arena on Oct. 13, according to Billboard. Rolling Stone says the tour runs through July 2027, with a pair of Madison Square Garden shows in late November.
