Blondie Announce New Album ‘High Noon’ for February 2027, Share Single ‘Spectral Eyes’

Blondie is officially back. Debbie Harry and Chris Stein announced on Thursday, October 15, that the band’s 12th studio album, “High Noon,” arrives February 26, 2027 via BMG, their first collection of new material in nine years. The lead single, “Spectral Eyes,” is out now, according to the band’s official announcement and the Associated Press.

The single and the sound

“Spectral Eyes” was written by Johnny Marr, who also plays guitar on the track. It leans into the shimmering guitar hooks and driving melodies that made Blondie famous, and it sets up an album the band describes as a mix of their signature punk rock with dance music and Latin rhythms.

“This album is classic Blondie, an amalgamation of all our different influences and eras into something new,” Harry said. “This music feels grounded in the present, shaped by who we are and how we’re living now.” Stein added that after “a long, strange ride,” the band is simply grateful for the support over the years.

Clem Burke’s final recordings

“High Noon” carries extra weight: it features the final recordings of Blondie’s co-founding drummer Clem Burke, who died last year after a battle with cancer. Much of the album was tracked in New York before his death, NME reports, with sessions that began in 2022 reuniting the band with producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, The War on Drugs) for the first time since 2017’s “Pollinator.”

Whether more Blondie music will follow is an open question. Stein told NME he has been dealing with health problems and does not know if he will make music again, while Harry floated the idea of future “Blondie Presents” projects without committing to another album.

Guests and tracklist

Beyond Marr, the 13-track album features Glen Matlock (who wrote the song “Sleepwalking”), Zach Condon of Beirut, and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius. “Little Metal Drummer” revisits a song originally recorded by Blondie’s co-founding keyboardist Jimmy Destri for his solo album. Longtime collaborator Rob Roth created the album’s visual world.

The full tracklist: “Spectral Eyes,” “Heartbreak Kid,” “Come Back Home,” “Tambo Tambo,” “Man Who Had No Face,” “The End,” “Little Metal Drummer,” “Sleepwalking,” “Whistle Into The Wind,” “Antifreeze,” “East of Eden,” “Bad Underwear” and “Ah, Sunflower, Weary of Time.”
