Ben Affleck joked that Jennifer Garner makes him “feel like I’m coming up a little short” as a parent, praising his ex-wife as “spectacular” in a preview of his Sunday TODAY interview with Willie Geist. The full sit-down aired on NBC on October 11.
Affleck, 54, said he tells their three children he is doing “about 75 percent as good as your mom.” Their answer, he said, is closer to 40 percent. “I’m maxing out. Woo, B+!” he added, according to E! News and People.
“I respect her. I’m grateful for her.”
Beneath the humor, Affleck was direct about the arrangement. He said the key to co-parenting is mutual respect and being able to get along with the other person. The former couple married in 2005 and split in 2015. They share Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 14. Garner, also 54, is currently dating tech CEO John Miller, People reported.
Staying close to home
Earlier this week, Affleck told Variety that he picks projects based in Los Angeles to stay near his kids. “I’m divorced, I have shared custody, and I don’t want to miss these years,” he said. He described a week-on, week-off schedule with Garner and said he is “really, really grateful” for her, adding that this period of his life is “really wonderful.”
