Los Angeles got the pop moment of the fall Saturday night. Chappell Roan walked out unannounced at the Kia Forum and joined Charli XCX for a full duet of “Boom Clap,” sending night one of Charli’s two-show LA stand on the Music, Fashion, Film Tour into the kind of frenzy that follows a tour built on surprise guests. Here is everything that happened, who else showed up, and the dates fans can still catch.
What happened at Charli XCX’s LA show
Midway through the set, Roan emerged to roars from the Forum crowd and traded verses with Charli on “Boom Clap,” the 2014 “Fault in Our Stars” smash that became one of the night’s biggest sing-alongs. Billboard’s own account posted the moment within minutes:

Roan was not the only guest. PinkPantheress came out for “Stateside,” The Dare took the stage for “Guess,” and Addison Rae made her own surprise appearance during the show, per ET. The guest-heavy night fits the pattern of this tour: at Austin City Limits earlier this month, Charli brought out Tinashe.
Why Chappell Roan, and why now
The pairing is not random. Roan just appeared on the remix of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Expectations,” her highest-profile collaboration of the fall, and she and Charli sit at the center of the same pop moment: two artists whose live shows have become events unto themselves. As mxdwn put it, “pop divas unite.” For Charli, the LA weekends are a homecoming of sorts – the Music, Fashion, Film Tour supports her album of the same name, released in July, and follows her soundtrack work for Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights” film in February.
The road to the Kia Forum: timeline
- July 2026: Charli XCX releases the “Music, Fashion, Film” album.
- Oct. 10, 2026: Tinashe joins Charli onstage at Austin City Limits.
- Oct. 17, 2026: Music, Fashion, Film Tour opens a two-night stand at the Kia Forum in Inglewood; Chappell Roan (“Boom Clap”), PinkPantheress (“Stateside”), The Dare (“Guess”) and Addison Rae all appear.
- Oct. 18, 2026: Second LA show at the Kia Forum.
- Oct. 21, 2026: Desert Diamond Arena, Glendale, Arizona.
- Oct. 23, 2026: MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas – the North American finale.
- February 2027: UK and European leg begins.
A tour built on the surprise cameo
The guest strategy has become the tour’s signature. At ACL, it was Tinashe; in LA, a four-cameo night anchored by one of the biggest breakout stars of the decade. It is a deliberate inversion of the stadium-pop playbook, and critics have noticed: The Nation called Charli’s current run proof of her “genius” for turning every stop into its own news cycle. For Roan, the cameo extends a victory lap of a year that has included the “Expectations” remix and a run of festival headlining sets, and it puts two of pop’s most theatrical live performers on one stage at the exact moment both are peaking.
Music, Fashion, Film Tour: remaining dates and tickets
Three North American dates remain after the LA run: tonight’s second Forum show (Oct. 18, doors with opener underscores), Glendale on Oct. 21 and Las Vegas on Oct. 23. Tickets for all three are on sale through the usual primary sellers, with verified resale the fallback for the Forum, which has been the hottest room of the tour. After Vegas, the tour goes dark until the UK and European leg in February 2027.
What this means for fans
If you have tickets for night two at the Forum or the Arizona and Vegas shows, expect the guest lottery to continue: this tour has made a habit of pulling from Charli’s orbit of collaborators, and Saturday’s lineup proves no cameo is off the table. Arrive early enough for opener underscores, and check the Kia Forum bag policy before you leave (it has been one of the most-searched questions of the weekend). and keep an eye on setlist.fm after night two for any swaps from night one. For everyone else, the full “Boom Clap” duet is already circulating from Billboard and fan accounts, and the European on-sale dates for February 2027 are the next thing to watch. It caps a huge weekend for LA entertainment, which also saw the Academy Museum Gala draw Taylor Swift and half of Hollywood across town.
