Theo Von is coming back to Netflix. His new stand-up special, “I’m Doing Fine,” premieres globally on Oct. 20, according to Variety. It is his third Netflix special and his first in five years, and the first trailer is already getting attention.
When does Theo Von: I’m Doing Fine come out?
The special arrives on Netflix on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The Futon Critic, which carried Netflix’s announcement, says Kevin Morra directed it. Von, Paul J. Morra and Kevin Morra are executive producers, and Swift River Productions made it.
What is the special about?
Netflix describes an hour in which Von talks about the “wild world that raised him,” from his back-road upbringing to “acid-filled adventures.” In a clip, he jokes about a man from his hometown who was “busted with a 30-pound bag of hamster bones on him,” then asks an audience member how many hamsters that adds up to, per Variety.
It follows Von’s 2016 special “No Offense” and 2021’s “Regular People,” both on Netflix, according to Variety. TV Insider lists the same Oct. 20 premiere date.
Why the title is getting attention
Variety says the title may be a cheeky nod to the headlines around Von’s last Netflix taping, which was scrapped. Bro Bible reports that after a taping in New York last summer, some fans called the set “rough,” and that Complex quoted one attendee who said Von “seemed unrehearsed and disorganized.” Variety reports fans worried after video of Von discussing his mental health struggles surfaced, and that he later told his podcast audience he was OK.
Netflix has not said whether the final special uses footage from that taping or a new one, according to Bro Bible.

What else is Von doing?
Variety notes he hosts the podcast “This Past Weekend” and starred with David Spade in the movie “Busboys,” which the two wrote and self-financed.
