Carrie Season 2 Update: Prime Video Hasn’t Decided, and Mike Flanagan Wants Three

Is there a Carrie season 2? Viewers who finished Prime Video’s Carrie over the weekend are asking, and as of Oct. 10 there is no answer. Reports from TV Insider, Capital and ScreenReport all say Prime Video has neither renewed nor canceled the show.

All eight episodes of the Stephen King adaptation arrived on Oct. 7. Mike Flanagan, who created the series, serves as writer, showrunner and executive producer and directed the first two and final two episodes. Summer H. Howell plays Carrie White.

Carrie season 2: what Flanagan has said

Flanagan has made his hopes clear. Speaking to Collider, he said, “In my dream scenario, I think it’s three seasons.” The show was released as a limited series, and his previous horror projects, including The Haunting of Hill House and The Fall of the House of Usher, were each built as a single story.

The finale leaves room for more. According to ScreenReport, the last episode widens the world with the idea that Carrie may not be the only person with her abilities.

Prime Video typically weighs viewership before committing, so a decision may take time. No renewal order, production start or release window has been announced.
