The Rob Lowe movie Confession has a trailer and a date. The Daily Wire released the first trailer on Tuesday for the drama, which also stars James Franco, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte and was written by Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro, Deadline and Mediaite report.
Confession release date and where to watch
Per the Daily Wire’s release, as reported by Yahoo, the film premieres at the Warsaw Film Festival on Thursday, Oct. 15. It then gets a one-night run in about 100 theaters across the U.S. on Nov. 11. The same day, it begins streaming on the Daily Wire’s subscription platform, according to BroadwayWorld.
Who is in the Rob Lowe movie
The cast includes Rob Lowe, James Franco, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Nick Nolte, Richard Brake, Emile Hirsch, Brad Dourif and Dean Norris, BroadwayWorld lists. Yahoo says five of them are Oscar nominees: Franco, Leigh, Smit-McPhee, Nolte and Dourif. Lowe is also a producer, per the Daily Wire release.
The film is directed by Vaclav Marhoul, the Czech filmmaker behind the 2019 Holocaust drama The Painted Bird, Deadline notes. Deadline calls the project “under-the-radar” and says details only came out in recent weeks.
What the trailer shows
Outlets describe the story as a drama about people punished for what they believe. Awards Daily reads it as a parallel to Soviet-era persecution of dissidents, a view that comes from that outlet and not from the studio’s own synopsis. We have not seen the full film, and no reviews are out yet.
The trailer’s release is also getting attention because Shapiro, best known as a conservative commentator, is making his screenwriting debut, Mediaite says.
