GTA 6 Wanted System Explained

Six stars, a new hollow star and a witness rule. Here is what Rockstar has said so far.

Police Need a Witness

Per Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson via IGN, police respond after a witness sees a crime or an alarm goes off.

What Is the Hollow Star?

Reported by ET Now: a hollow star means police know a crime happened but not who did it.

Alarms Count Too

A tripped alarm can bring a police response, even with nobody around to see the crime, per Nelson.

Police Track Your Look

Reported by ET Now: indicators show whether police have your clothing, vehicle or camera footage. Return to the area and your level rises again.

Still Unconfirmed

Rockstar has not explained the sixth star. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026, per Rockstar.
