Shakira Ends Madrid Residency With Maluma, Bizarrap

Shakira ended her Madrid residency on Monday, Oct. 12, with a 13th and final show that brought out a string of guests, according to Billboard, Europa FM and Infobae. Maluma, Laura Pausini, Beéle, Dani Martín and Bizarrap all joined her on stage at Macondo Park.

A finale billed as “The Last Dance”

Billboard says the concert had been announced a week earlier as “The Last Dance.” It closed a run of four straight shows from Oct. 9 to 12. The night also fell on Spain’s National Day, and Billboard says Latin culture was strongly present throughout, with dancers from the Carnival of Barranquilla and a drone display.

Maluma returned for a second night in a row to perform “Chantaje” and “Agua.” Billboard reports Shakira joked, “We’ve already done four songs together; we should form a group called Shaluma.”

Bizarrap closes the night

Bizarrap took over the turntables for the finale and performed “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” with her, Billboard says. Europa FM also reported a tribute to Lorca and flamenco during the residency’s final night.

Bigger than planned

Billboard says the residency began with 8 dates and grew to 13. Shakira told the crowd: “When they proposed doing eight concerts here in Madrid, I thought it would be impossible. And look, today is our 13th show. Someone pinch me, please, so I know if this is real or not.” By her count, about 700,000 people attended the shows over the run.
