Keegan Allen Says He’s “on the Mend” After West Hollywood Armed Robbery

“Pretty Little Liars” actor Keegan Allen says he is “on the mend” after being robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint in West Hollywood on Thursday night. The 37-year-old posted a recovery update on Instagram on Sunday, Oct. 11, thanking fans, law enforcement and medical staff, Page Six reports.

What Allen said

Allen shared a video on Instagram right after the incident outside the Laurel Supply grocery store. “These two dudes hit me in the head, pointed a gun at me with a knife, and then took off,” he said, according to ABC7 and Page Six. “They had masks on and took my watch.” In a caption he wrote that West Hollywood “is not safe anymore.” On Saturday he posted a photo with stitches above his left eye and the caption “Healing. Will update more soon,” ABC7 reports. On Sunday he wrote: “Thank you all for such kind and caring messages. I’m on the mend.”

What the sheriff’s department says

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the robbery in a statement to Us Weekly, quoted by PopCulture. Deputies responded at about 9:05 p.m. on Oct. 8 to the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. The statement says one suspect pointed a handgun and the other a knife and demanded the victim’s watch and bracelet, and that the victim was struck in the face with the handgun. The suspects took a watch and left in an unknown vehicle. The department says the victim had a forehead laceration, was evaluated by fire personnel and was not transported to a hospital.

Page Six reports Allen also thanked staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in an Instagram Story, so accounts differ on whether he later sought hospital care. Allen has said he likely had a concussion, PopCulture reports.

Crime trends in the area

Sheriff’s Capt. Calvin Mah told ABC7 that robberies in the area are down about 20%, but called this one “a shocking crime.” No arrests have been reported in the sources reviewed.
